The Division of IT has specific minimum hardware requirements for effective use of computing resources.

Memory 512+ MB RAM; 60+ GB hard drive 1+ GB RAM; 80+ GB hard drive
Networking 56 K modem or NIC (10/100 BASE-T Ethernet) NIC (10/100 BASE-T Ethernet) or Wireless NIC (802.11 b/g)
Optical/data devices 32x CD-ROM/CD-RW; 512+ MB USB drive 48x CD-ROM/CD-RW or 48x DVD-ROM/DVD+/-RW; 1+ GB USB drive
