Information Security and Account Management (ISAM)

The Information Security and Account Management (ISAM) team is the Division of IT unit responsible for providing security expertise and resources necessary to protect the University's technology resources. They do this by providing information security strategies and guidelines identity and account management and professional response to cyber attacks.

For desktop and individual security, ISAM provides , information about viruses and patches and a comprehensive security awareness program: Make IT Safe.

The University's Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) is a must-read for anyone using MU computing resources. Also, copyright issues are addressed by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act (DMCA).

ISAM also maintains the MU data classification system, which lets users classify their systems, servers, and data according to MU guidelines for critical information. The data classification system also ties in with application security at MU, which provides information and guidelines for users who are developing applications. The provides departments with a way to verify the security of their applications, systems, or servers. Additional levels of security can be obtained by using digital certificates.
